About Us

Our Story

We originated from a 3 year project between 2019/2021 titled, "Increasing women economic empowerment through cage fish farming in Bugiri District". Our target is to employ more than 1,400 Women by 2023 with an aim to:

  1. Alleviate poverty and offer women paid labor.
  2. Increase agricultural productivity, food and nutrition security.
  3. Be a driver to gender equality relations and reduced domestic violence in the fishing communities.

Women Economic Empowerment, WEEB is a transformative and high impact, women in fisheries enterprise established to alleviate poverty, offer women paid labor organization located in Bugiri district.

Our Country Uganda has a very good potential for increased fisheries productivity which if commercialized in approach and linked to sectors such as tourism together with an enabling policy can stimulate increased fish production for both local and regional markets.

Women Economic Empowerment

Our Areas of influence include cage farming, women in fish farming and providing advice on the pros and cons of different genetics programmes, and helping the local hatcheries understand and fill any capacity gaps they may have in implementing their genetics operations.
